Choosing an assisted living facility can be a difficult and time consuming decision. OVERVIEW:
The Resident Aide is responsible for providing comprehensive
care including, but not limited to, the following responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct self in calm, pleasant manner, promote positive, professional image.
- Work effectively and respectfully with all members of team and corporation, residents and families, members of the medical community.
- Consistently punctual, reliable, dependable and willing to accept new challenges.
- Able to accept direction and guidance from supervisors, able to maintain effective working relationships with other team members.
- Assist residents with all ADLs i.e. bathing, dressing, grooming.
- Participate in assisting residents with transport to dining room, serving meals, assisting residents as needed with meals.
- Participate in resident activity programming.
- Complete resident laundry and/or assist resident as necessary.
- Assist housekeeping services with light housekeeping duties.
- Serve as trainer for new resident aide staff.
- Participate in medication pass training, strictly follow facility's medication pass protocol when assisting with medications.
- Complete all training and orientation requirements.
- Attend and be actively involved in mandatory staff meetings/inservices.
- Maintain current certification if applicable and current CPR certification.
- Practice safety procedures and comply with established reporting of incidents and injuries to employees and/or residents.
- In conjunction with management team, assist in developing and maintaining an environment that ensures the health, safety, welfare and independence of our residents and provides a continuum of quality care.
REQUIRED SKILL, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Current CPR certification.
- Prior experience in providing health care to senior population. Experience in assisting living preferred but not necessary.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIRMENTS:
- Able to lift and transfer residents. Able to bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, twist, lift, walk, stand and sit.
- Requires alertness, attention to detail, effective time management skills and ability to multi-task. Must be able to prioritize, use good judgment and make sound decisions. Maintain positive and professional manner.
- Work in well lit, clean, cooled and heated areas.
- Potential for injury from aggressive, irrational resident or work related incident.
- Potential for exposure to infectious agents or hazardous chemicals.
- Able to work overtime as required to meet the needs of the facility.
